Tamas Society works to expand educational opportunities for children living in difficult and vulnerable circumstances. Our education initiatives include Pre-School Education (3–6 years), Non-Formal Education (6–14 years for children who are not attending school), Remedial Education (6–14 years for school-going children), and Bridge Courses (14–18 years for children who have dropped out of school).
Our programmes are designed to support children who face barriers to education, including child labour, extreme poverty, homelessness and displacement, difficult family circumstances, disability, disaster-related disruption and other forms of social vulnerability. Special emphasis is placed on girls’ education and women’s education, recognising the important role education plays in strengthening individuals, families and communities.
Why Mission Education?
Children are the future of every community. For children growing up in poverty or difficult circumstances, access to quality education can be a pathway towards greater opportunity, dignity and independence.
Education can help children move away from child labour and other situations that prevent them from learning and developing. It provides knowledge and skills while also building awareness of health, social responsibilities, rights and opportunities.
Through Mission Education, Tamas Society seeks to create an environment where children can learn, develop confidence and remain connected to education.
