Building Skills. Strengthening Livelihoods. Empowering Women.
Tamas Society works to support women from underserved communities by creating opportunities for skill development, livelihood generation, health awareness and greater economic independence. Our approach focuses on practical skills and community-based participation that can help women build confidence, strengthen their abilities and work towards dignified and sustainable livelihoods.
Self-Help Groups
Tamas Society promotes community participation through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), providing women with a platform to come together, share knowledge and experiences, discuss common concerns and explore opportunities for personal and economic development.
Through regular group participation, women can strengthen their confidence, leadership abilities and awareness of important social, health and livelihood issues. SHGs also encourage collective thinking and cooperation, helping women become more actively involved in decisions affecting their families and communities.
Skill Development for Livelihoods
Skill development is an important part of our women empowerment initiatives. Tamas Society provides practical, livelihood-oriented training designed to help women develop skills that can support self-employment, income generation and greater economic independence.
Our skill development areas include:
- Tailoring
- Hand embroidery
- Kantha stich
- Terracotta
- Jute diversified products making
- Jewelry Making
- Leather goods making
- Cotton and canvas bags making
These skills can provide women with opportunities to develop products, pursue self-employment and explore income-generating activities according to their abilities and circumstances.
Women’s Health & Awareness
Women’s empowerment also requires access to appropriate health information and awareness. Tamas Society works to promote awareness related to women’s health, reproductive health and menstrual hygiene, helping women make informed decisions about their own health and well-being.
Health and awareness activities are integrated with community participation so that women can discuss concerns, access relevant information and encourage healthier practices within their families and communities.
From Participation to Independence
Our women empowerment initiatives aim to create a pathway from participation to greater independence.
Through learning, skill development, participation and livelihood opportunities, women can strengthen their confidence, develop practical abilities and work towards improved economic and social well-being.
We believe that empowering women contributes not only to individual development but also to stronger families and more resilient communities.

Tamas Society is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for women from underserved communities to:
- Develop practical and market-oriented skills
