Volunteering with Tamas Society is an opportunity to contribute your time, energy and ideas towards programmes supporting children, women and underserved communities.

Our volunteers participate in activities according to their interests, abilities and the needs of our programmes. We value responsible participation, respect for beneficiaries and a willingness to learn and contribute.

Become a Volunteer

We welcome individuals who would like to contribute their time to the work of Tamas Society.

Duration of Volunteering

A minimum involvement of 10 working days is required to be considered a volunteer at Tamas Society.

A Volunteer Certificate may be issued upon request. Volunteers should request their certificate within two months from the last date of their engagement.

Visitors

Individuals participating in activities at Tamas Society for less than 5 working days will be considered visitors.

Visitors are not provided with a certificate.


Guidelines for Volunteers and Visitors

To ensure a safe, respectful and meaningful experience for everyone, volunteers and visitors are expected to follow these guidelines:

  • Volunteers and visitors should attend the designated induction session at the Tamas Society centre as instructed by the organisation.
  • Volunteers should behave professionally and respectfully towards children, women, staff and community members at all times.
  • Volunteers must obtain permission from Tamas Society authorities before visiting individual project sites or meeting beneficiaries outside the designated programme premises.
  • Any meeting with parents or beneficiaries should take place within the premises designated by Tamas Society.
  • Any concern or objectionable situation should be discussed directly with the appropriate Tamas Society authority.
  • Volunteers should treat all children and women equally and without discrimination or bias.
  • Volunteers should listen carefully to beneficiaries and avoid reaching immediate conclusions. Concerns should be discussed with the appropriate authority when necessary.
  • Volunteers should not allow children or beneficiaries to use their personal belongings, including mobile phones, tablets or other personal devices.
  • Volunteers should not involve beneficiaries or community members associated with Tamas Society in activities or events outside the organisation without prior permission.
  • Volunteers should be sensitive and respectful towards children and women who may come from challenging or vulnerable circumstances.
  • Volunteers are expected to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and respect the dignity, privacy and safety of beneficiaries at all times.

Any violation of these guidelines will be treated seriously and may result in appropriate action by Tamas Society.
